ACADEMY OF BEACH SPORTS The ABS was founded with the long term goal to help athletes, coaches, referees and administrators achieve their goals and ambitions within sport by using the natural environment of the sand through playing, organising and administrating sports. The Academy is not restricted to playing just beach sports and has expanded during the winter months to indoor volleyball, the players have competed in South West Grand Prix and Junior Championships as well as the Veterans event. Since its foundation in 2004 it has grown in strength and numbers to this year reaching almost 100 members across the North Devon Community. This year we have qualified 12 level 1 coaches and 8 Grade IV referees for volleyball. In a society where we are governed by the growing concern over child protection our aim is to ensure that the Academy is a safe place, to have fun and to learn without prejudice to the best of your ability and to be able to find friends to share the experience of a sport that once played can become addictive for life. I hope that you start to share our passion for the game and that over time the extended family that is has become my volleyball world for the past 24 years becomes yours and your friends too. |
For the past year The Academy of Beach Sports has been working towards Clubmark Volley 1 Status. The meaning of being an accredited club means that we work consistently to have good governance, sound child protection policies, experienced and qualified coaches, referees and volunteers as well as a host of other very sound requirements for more details about club mark and what it means to you and your child please see the following link http://www.clubmark.org.uk/ As part of receiving this accreditation the club has to have a mission statement which expresses the core values of our club.
